A Review of IMHX, NEC Birmingham, UK, 2019

IMHX, 24 Sep, 2019

  • NEC, Birmingham, United Kingdom
  • STIQs verdict (of 5 possible):
  • Event link: IMHX

First of all we would like to caveat this review with saying that our experience was as a visitor. We heard from a few exhibitors that it was a bit quiet, but this may be because we visited on the first day (the show is held between September 24th - 27th).

The show was brought to our attention by a number of robotics companies asking us to meet at the show. We would normally go to Ecommerce Expo in London which is held at the same time.

Swisslog's Beer Robot (from Kuka) was one of the more popular exhibits.

IMHX was spread across three of NECs exhibition halls and is clearly one of the best shows in the UK for intralogistics.

The quality of exhibitors, people visiting and people available on stands was of a high level and we managed to talk to plenty of directors, VP's and even a few CEO's.

Our overall impression was that while the UK is well known for having among the lowest penetration of robots and robotics in the developed world, it would seem that this is about to change (the penetration, probably not the relative rating across the developed world).

Numerous robots was on display together with autonomous vehicles using natural feature navigation.

Most interesting was perhaps the presence of two picking robotics companies - Osaro and Righthand Robotics, from the US. Both co-exhibited with a partner company.

Personal KPI's: 12,500 steps, 67 business cards collected, 6 hours spent
